Washington, D.C. – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto met with U.S. President Joe Biden, who expressed his country’s support for Prabowo’s national program to provide free nutritious meals for schoolchildren. The meeting took place at the White House on Tuesday, November 12 (local time), and Biden’s endorsement was highlighted in a joint statement released on the White House website on Wednesday, November 13.
“President Biden also voiced his support for Indonesia’s national program to provide healthy and nutritious meals for school children and pregnant women,” the White House statement read.
Prabowo and Biden further committed to advancing health cooperation to enhance clinical research, public health, and health systems. This collaboration aims to address emerging health conditions, chronic diseases, and infectious diseases, including tuberculosis.
Both leaders welcomed the future signing of a high-level Memorandum of Understanding on health between Indonesia and the U.S., underscoring their shared commitment to Indonesia’s healthcare transformation goals.
