Jakarta — Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka were officially sworn in as the President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2024–2029 term during a ceremony at the DPR/MPR building in Senayan, Jakarta, on Sunday (October 20). One of the standout moments during the event was when Prabowo joined a standing ovation for outgoing President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Vice President Ma’ruf Amin.
The applause erupted when MPR Chairman Ahmad Muzani expressed gratitude to Jokowi and Ma’ruf Amin for their service to the nation over the past five years.
“On behalf of the leadership and members of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), we extend our deepest gratitude and highest appreciation to the 7th President of Indonesia, Mr. Joko Widodo, and the 13th Vice President of Indonesia, Mr. Ma’ruf Amin,” said Muzani.
Not only Prabowo, but his son Didit Hediprasetyo, who was also present at the inauguration ceremony, also stood up and gave a standing applause along with the members of parliament, as they shouted “thank you” to Jokowi.
This moment of unity highlighted the respect for the outgoing administration as Prabowo and Gibran prepared to take on the leadership role in Indonesia. (RR)
