Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto announced an increase in teachers’ salaries starting in 2025, emphasizing his commitment to fulfilling the rights of all Indonesians.
“We are determined to work hard; every rupiah belonging to the Indonesian people must be enjoyed by the Indonesian people,” said Prabowo during the peak event of National Teachers’ Day 2024 at Jakarta International Velodrome, Rawamangun, Jakarta, on Thursday (28/11).
Speaking to thousands of teachers, Prabowo highlighted that Indonesia possesses resources not owned by many other countries. He reaffirmed his commitment to establishing a clean government.
“With all the contributions of our predecessors, we must strive to be more meticulous and courageous, especially in producing a clean government,” Prabowo stated.
“Leaks caused by corruption, illicit fees, smuggling, various forms of manipulation, and deceit result in the loss of much of our wealth. This is what we are determined to fix,” he explained.
Prabowo also called on the public, particularly teachers, to trust the steps the government will take. “I ask for the patience of teachers, the perseverance of teachers, and the trust of teachers in us,” Prabowo added.
The salary increase announced by Prabowo applies to educators with the status of Civil Servants (ASN), with a rise equivalent to one month’s basic salary. Meanwhile, for non-ASN honorary teachers, professional allowances will increase to IDR 2 million for those who have completed teacher certification. (RR)
