Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed his commitment to improving the welfare of workers across Indonesia.
Speaking at a press conference after a cabinet meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Friday afternoon (29/11), Prabowo emphasized the importance of supporting laborers.
“Ladies and gentlemen, worker welfare is something very important. We will keep striving to improve their well-being,” stated Prabowo.
This aligns with the government’s decision to increase the National Minimum Wage by 6.5% for 2025.
“We have decided to raise the average national minimum wage by 6.5% in 2025,” said Prabowo.
Prabowo highlighted that ensuring fair wages is essential to improving workers’ quality of life and boosting their purchasing power.
“The purpose of setting the minimum wage is to increase workers’ purchasing power while maintaining business competitiveness,” Prabowo explained.
Additionally, Prabowo assured that other support programs, including social assistance and programs like the Family Hope Program (PKH), will continue to target those in need.
“With these measures, coupled with social aid and other subsidies like PKH, I believe the government’s efforts to protect all layers of society, including the labor force, are already significant. Of course, we aim to make further improvements in the future,” Prabowo concluded. (RR)
