London — During his official visit to London, UK, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto expressed interest in collaborating with the UK to support his initiative for a free nutritious meals program.
This interest emerged during Prabowo’s meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer at Starmer’s residence at 10 Downing Street, London, on Thursday (11/21) local time.
“We recognize the importance of proper nutrition for children and supporting their education. In this regard, the President (Prabowo) outlined Indonesia’s national program to provide nutritious and healthy meals for school children and pregnant mothers, aiming to achieve the Vision of Golden Indonesia 2045,” stated the Joint Statement from the meeting, published on the UK government’s official website.
“To this end, we look forward to the possibility of cooperation, including through sharing best practices and lessons learned in this area,” the statement added.
Prabowo and Starmer also agreed on the importance of leveraging innovation to strengthen food security, reduce environmental risks, and enhance collaboration in boosting agricultural productivity, agricultural technology, and forest and land management.
They shared insights on the critical role of education, health, and research and innovation in supporting long-term sustainable growth in both nations.
“We agreed to promote collaboration in these areas. We recognize the need for closer cooperation in artificial intelligence and related digital innovations,” the leaders stated.
Both parties also welcomed the establishment of the first UK university in Indonesia this year and agreed to deepen health sector cooperation by supporting the advancement of health education, specialist clinical expertise, and research and innovation. (RR)
