Jakarta — Prabowo Subianto, the president-elect for the 2024-2029 term and Chairman of the Gerindra Party, expressed his deep appreciation for the work of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
“Every member of Gerindra respects and values your service, Sir. And why did I unite with Mr. Jokowi? Because I believe his heart is red and white (patriotic),” Prabowo said during the Gerindra Party’s grand rally at Indonesia Arena on Saturday, August 31.
Prabowo also expressed his solidarity with Jokowi, stating that if Jokowi were hurt by any party, Prabowo and the entire Gerindra Party would also feel the pain.
“Thank you for your years of service. Don’t worry, Sir, if Mr. Jokowi is pinched, the entire Gerindra Party will feel it,” Prabowo declared.
He acknowledged his own shortcomings but vowed to continue working together to fulfill the people’s mandate.
“I realize that I have many shortcomings, but together, God willing, we can do our best for the nation,” Prabowo said.
“Gerindra will defend justice and honesty. Thank you, Mr. Jokowi. We are behind you.”
In the same event, Jokowi expressed his happiness and excitement about being able to attend the Gerindra Party’s grand rally.
“Tonight, I feel very happy and excited—this is the first time I have attended an event like this in the midst of the entire Gerindra family,” Jokowi said.
Jokowi emphasized that Gerindra Party members should be grateful and proud to be led by someone like Prabowo.
“All of you are very fortunate to be led by Prabowo Subianto, extremely fortunate to be led by someone who is visionary, patriotic, and consistent, someone who never gives up and speaks truthfully—what is good, he says is good; what is not good, he says is not good,” Jokowi added. (RR)
