Jakarta — Indonesia’s newly inaugurated 8th President, Prabowo Subianto, hosted a state dinner for foreign leaders and dignitaries at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Sunday evening (October 20). This dinner marked Prabowo’s first official hosting event following his inauguration as President of Indonesia.
Addressing the distinguished guests, Prabowo expressed his deep honor and gratitude for their presence at his inauguration. Speaking in English, he conveyed his appreciation on behalf of the Indonesian people.
“Once again, on behalf of the people of Indonesia and on my own behalf, I extend my deepest thanks and highest appreciation,” Prabowo said.
He further pledged to strengthen the international relations that have been established, emphasizing Indonesia’s commitment to fostering goodwill and cooperation with its global partners. Prabowo also invited the guests to raise a toast for the prosperity of all nations.
“We want to continue these relationships and this friendship. Indonesia aspires to be the best neighbor, the best partner to work together for the common good, shared peace, and collective prosperity,” Prabowo stated.
The dinner was enlivened with traditional Balinese dances and an orchestral performance by students from the University of Defense. The event was attended by around 20 representatives from various nations, including Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Darussalam, Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao of Timor Leste, Prime Minister James Marape of Papua New Guinea, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong of Singapore, and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. of the Philippines.
