Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto signed a regulation to forgive non-performing loans for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in agriculture, plantation, livestock, fisheries, and other MSME sectors. This initiative is detailed in Government Regulation No. 47 of 2024, signed on Tuesday (November 5).
Prabowo underscored that this regulation reflects the government’s commitment to supporting small-scale food producers crucial to the country.
“With this regulation, the government stands ready to assist our brothers and sisters in agriculture, MSMEs, and fisheries—producers essential to our food supply,” Prabowo stated.
The decision follows extensive consultations with farmer groups, fishermen, and MSME operators who expressed concerns about stalled operations due to outstanding bank loans. By addressing these challenges, Prabowo hopes that small-scale food producers can continue their vital work without financial barriers.
“This support enables them to continue their work and contribute effectively to our nation,” Prabowo remarked.
Prabowo also tasked relevant ministries and agencies with handling the technical and administrative details.
“Technical requirements and conditions will be coordinated with relevant ministries and agencies,” he explained.
Concluding the signing, Prabowo expressed hope that farmers, fishermen, and MSMEs could resume their activities with peace of mind and joy. He extended his respect to these small-scale producers, recognizing their role in sustaining the nation’s food supply.
“I wish for all farmers, fishermen, and MSMEs across Indonesia to work with confidence, knowing they are respected and valued as vital contributors to our national life,” Prabowo stated. (RR)
