Jakarta – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has expressed strong optimism and full support for the future of Indonesia’s National Football Team, believing in its ability to rise and succeed in the coming years.
He conveyed this sentiment while delivering remarks and opening the Plenary Cabinet Session alongside ministers and deputy ministers of the Merah Putih Cabinet at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Friday afternoon (March 21).
Despite Indonesia’s 5-1 defeat against Australia in their recent match, Prabowo remains confident in the progress of the national team.
“Well, we may still feel disappointed that our football team hasn’t achieved the results we hoped for, but we firmly believe it will improve in the future,” Prabowo stated.
He also highlighted the presence of new players, coaches, and technical staff, emphasizing that they form a crucial part of the team’s overall development.
“This is also a new team, with a new coach and new technical staff, so I believe we will achieve great things. Football is important,” he said.
“Football is important because our people feel that football reflects our determination, our spirit. Indonesia must not be underestimated by any nation in the world, especially in sports,” he added.
Prabowo stressed the need for strong teamwork and collaboration moving forward, affirming that success is impossible without unity.
“What we have achieved so far would not have been possible without our collective hard work, without the hard work of all of you. There is no success without solid teamwork,” he concluded. (RR)
