Bekasi – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto visited flood-affected communities in Tambun Inpres Village, Buni Bakti Village, Babelan Subdistrict, Bekasi Regency, Saturday (8/3) to check on the condition of the residents and provide moral support.
Prabowo arrived at the location at 17:57 ahead of iftar time. At the location, Prabowo also broke his fast at the house of one of the residents by drinking water while chatting with the residents.
Prabowo came wearing a brown safari shirt with donker blue trousers. The flood at the location was seen inundating up to the ankles.
Upon arriving at the location, Prabowo was greeted enthusiastically by the local community.
‘Here, come and salute Mr Prabowo. Sir, salim Pak!’ the locals exclaimed as children shook hands with Prabowo.
Prabowo then walked through the flooded area and visited the houses of residents, including those who chose not to evacuate.
‘It was 80 centimetres yesterday,’ a male resident told Prabowo.
‘Up there?’ Prabowo said.
‘Yes, sleeping upstairs. We didn’t know where to evacuate, so we stayed here,’ said the resident.
‘Did you all get in?’ Prabowo said.
‘In. I propped it up inside, it just opened,’ said the resident.
While talking to the residents, Prabowo also called a number of relevant officials to immediately renovate facilities that are not yet operational and repair SD Negeri 04 Babelan, which was also affected by the flood.

Nurhayati, a resident of the area, said that the flood had hit the area twice in the past two weeks. Unlike some residents who chose not to evacuate, Nurhayati decided to evacuate.
‘During the first flood, it was as big as my shoulder, and the last flood was as big as my waist,’ said Nurhayati.
Nurhayati expressed her happiness that Prabowo visited her house in the midst of this disaster.
‘Ouch, I’m happy. I am very touched that Mr President wants to visit my house. I just hope that Mr President will do his best,’ she said.
Prabowo left the location at 18:28. On that occasion Prabowo was accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. (RR)
