Bogor – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto briefed 1,004 TNI Unit Commanders consisting of Unit Commanders at the level of Danyon, Dandim, and Dandrem from each military service at the Presidential Palace, Bogor, West Java, Friday (7/2).

Prabowo said in his briefing that a prosperous country must be able to protect itself from threats in this world. Thus, national defence is vital for the survival of the nation and state.

‘If a country wants to be truly independent, a country wants to be prosperous, then it must have the power to protect itself, to protect all of its natural resources,’ Prabowo said.

Prabowo also highlighted various conflicts that exist at the world level today where there are countries that are so rich, prosperous, and strong, but eventually invaded and affect residential houses, schools, public facilities, including power plants.

According to Prabowo, Indonesia should be grateful that its leaders have been able to maintain Indonesia so that it is not involved in world conflicts.

‘We should be grateful that our leaders have preserved our country, preserved NKRI without getting too involved, without inviting invasions from other countries,’ he explained.

He also said that the function of the state is protection, which means defence. However, the power of defence is not enough through words, writings or theories.

‘We cannot protect with good intentions, we cannot protect only with words, we cannot protect only with writings, we cannot protect with theory. Protecting is with strength,’ he said. (RR)
