Jakarta — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto announced that his administration is actively driving investment across various sectors, with the potential to generate approximately 8 million jobs for Indonesians.
He made this statement during the inauguration of Freeport Indonesia’s Precious Metals Refinery in Gresik on Monday (March 17).
“Our estimates suggest that the investments we are initiating this year could create around 8 million jobs. We are highly optimistic and grateful for our resources, and it is our duty to make the most of them,” he stated.
Furthermore, he revealed that the government is set to undertake 30 projects, with a primary focus on downstream processing and raw material refinement.
According to Prabowo, Indonesia’s natural resources must be harnessed to maximize public welfare. To achieve this, all stakeholders must uphold good governance, transparency, and accountability.
“We recognize that several sectors remain crucial, such as agriculture and fisheries. These industries not only generate substantial foreign exchange but also create significant employment opportunities,” Prabowo remarked. (RR)
