Jordan – Indonesian Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto arrived at Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA), Amman, Jordan, on Monday (10/6). Minister Prabowo’s visit to Jordan is in order to represent Indonesian President Joko Widodo at the high-level conference “Call for Action: Urgent Humanitarian Response for Gaza.”

Prabowo’s visit follows an invitation extended via a letter from the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt H.E. Abdel Fattah El Sisi, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan H.E Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, and Secretary-General of the United Nations H.E. Antonio Guterres to President Jokowi on May 30, 2024.

The conference, organized jointly by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the United Nations, is scheduled to take place on June 11, 2024, in Jordan.

The conference is being held in response to the ceasefire call in Gaza, aiming for heads of state to identify ways to strengthen the international community’s response to the ongoing humanitarian disaster.

With the presence of representatives from the Indonesian Government at this conference, it is expected to provide tangible contributions to the collective efforts in addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Upon arrival at Queen Alia International Airport, Prabowo was greeted with an honor guard and high officials, including the Minister of State for Prime Ministry Affairs Ibrahim Mashhour Al Jazi, Governor of Amman Yasser Adwan, Mayor of Amman Yousef Sawarbeh, and the Indonesian Defense Attaché for Egypt in Cairo, Colonel Kav Aria Sanggita Saleh.

Subsequently, Prabowo, accompanied by Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives Sugiono, proceeded to the hotel where he was welcomed by the Indonesian Ambassador to Amman, Ade Padmo Sarwono, and the Head of Public Relations of the Secretariat General of the Ministry of Defense, Brigadier General TNI Edwin Adrian Sumantha.
