Jakarta – The winning presidential candidate of the 2024 election, Prabowo Subianto, discussed the potential and expansion of cooperation with President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, over a phone call on Monday (April 8th).
Erdogan expressed his belief that the longstanding relationship between Indonesia and Turkey could continue to grow under Prabowo’s leadership in the future.
“Our bilateral relationship has an intense agenda in several areas such as military, defense, industrial cooperation, which also extends to trade and finance,” said Erdogan.
“My esteemed brother, the momentum that we have not been able to achieve in our cooperation during your tenure as defense minister will continue to be strengthened, with mutual trust and the interests of our respective peoples being the same,” he continued.
In response, Prabowo is determined to continue nurturing and expanding cooperation between Indonesia and Turkey. He stated that the bilateral relationship between the two countries has been excellent and will continue to be strengthened.
“The friendship and cooperation between Turkey and Indonesia must be nurtured and expanded. I am committed to doing so. We admire the achievements of the Turkish people and we want to work together for the good of our respective peoples,” said Prabowo.
Additionally, the two leaders also discussed the resolution of issues that concern the Islamic world, especially those related to Palestine, which is currently experiencing conflict with Israel.
“I believe this will generate significant added value for us if we can resolve these issues,” Erdogan said.
