Prabowo Says He Checks Food Prices Almost Every Night, Calls Agriculture Minister Regularly

Jakarta – President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, revealed that he regularly checks food prices nearly every night by calling Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman.

He shared this during an exclusive interview with seven senior journalists from seven major media outlets at his private residence in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, recently.

“Almost every night I call the agriculture minister and ask, ‘How’s the price of beef today? What’s the rate for harvested dry paddy?’” he said.

Prabowo emphasized the critical importance of food security in Indonesia, drawing lessons from the food crisis of the 1960s. This concern, he noted, has driven his close monitoring of food prices—especially during the holy month of Ramadan and ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijri.
