Doha — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto announced that Qatar is ready to pursue an investment partnership with Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund, Badan Pengelola Investasi Daya Anagata Nusantara (Danantara Indonesia), amounting to US$2 billion (approximately Rp 33.5 trillion).
Prabowo shared the news on Sunday, following his bilateral meeting with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, at the Amiri Diwan Palace on April 13. The two leaders held discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and signed a series of strategic cooperation agreements.
“I believe the meeting was very productive. We agreed to accelerate our cooperation. His Highness (the Emir of Qatar) has committed to investing through Danantara. It will be a joint fund, and he pledged two billion dollars,” Prabowo told reporters in Qatar on Sunday.
Chief Executive Officer of Danantara Investment Authority Rosan Roeslani and Minister of Public Housing and Settlements Maruarar Sirait, who accompanied Prabowo during the meeting, confirmed the investment figure.
Prabowo emphasized that this commitment reflects the ongoing momentum of Indonesia’s economic diplomacy and signals Qatar’s strong interest in deepening cooperation.
“I think this is a very positive development. It’s a continuation of our efforts, and he (the Emir) is very enthusiastic,” said Prabowo.
