Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto—arrived at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport at 9 p.m. local time on Wednesday (Sept. 3), following his state visit to Beijing where he attended the 80th Anniversary of China’s Victory in the War of Resistance and held a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping earlier in the day.
Wearing a brown safari suit, black trousers, and a black peci, Prabowo stepped off the plane and was greeted by State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, who shook his hand upon arrival.
During his visit, Prabowo attended China’s Victory Day commemoration and later met with Xi Jinping. The bilateral talks took place shortly after Xi hosted a luncheon for foreign leaders and dignitaries following the military parade at Tiananmen Square.
“China supports the policies of President Prabowo’s administration, supports the swift restoration of order and stability in Indonesia, and supports the country’s development and strengthening,” Xi said.
Prabowo, in turn, briefed Xi on Indonesia’s improving domestic situation and expressed his honor at representing Indonesia at China’s historic commemoration of the 80th anniversary of victory against Japan.
“Relations between our two countries are now at their best in history. Indonesia hopes to strengthen cooperation with China in trade, investment, finance, and infrastructure, and to promote more tangible achievements in bilateral ties,” Prabowo said.
Both leaders also placed emphasis on deepening economic cooperation. China pledged to expand collaboration with Indonesia in strategic sectors such as minerals, digital economy, artificial intelligence, agriculture, and fisheries.
The military parade was also attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
