Prabowo Reaffirms Commitment to Fighting Corruption: 300 Trillion Rupiah in State Funds Saved

Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto on Friday underscored his administration’s resolve to lead the fight against corruption and abuse of power across all executive and government institutions.

He acknowledged that corrupt practices often occur at multiple levels of bureaucracy, from ministries to state-owned enterprises at both the national and regional levels.

“This is not a fact we should hide,” Prabowo said in his State of the Nation Address at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta.

In his first 299 days in office, Prabowo said, he has taken concrete measures to prevent the misuse of state funds.

“I have no choice but to lead the effort to eradicate corruption and misconduct in all executive and government agencies,” he declared. “That is why, at the start of 2025, we identified and secured 300 trillion rupiah from the state budget (APBN) that we deemed at risk of being misappropriated.”

“These include excessively large budgets for domestic and overseas travel, inflated allocations for office supplies, and various other budget lines that have long been sources of corruption and abuse,” he added.

According to Prabowo, this drive for efficiency is not merely policy but a constitutional mandate.

“This efficiency is required by our Constitution — specifically Article 33, paragraph 4 of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia. We have reallocated 300 trillion rupiah toward more productive uses that will directly benefit the people,” the president said.

Prabowo argued that any genuine anti-corruption effort must begin with the nation’s willingness to confront its own flaws and mistakes.

“The Indonesian people must have the courage to recognize our own shortcomings, to acknowledge our own mistakes, to admit the ailments within our own system so that we can fix them. Without that willingness to acknowledge, it will be impossible for us to improve,” he stressed.
