President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, affirmed that the relationship between Indonesia and France is solid, and that it is now time for both countries to explore and harness new opportunities for mutual benefit.
This statement was delivered by Prabowo during the welcoming ceremony for French President Emmanuel Macron at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (May 28).
“Amidst our growing partnership, there is still much potential to uncover and new opportunities we must take advantage of,” Prabowo said.
He warmly welcomed the meeting and expressed confidence that Indonesia and France can make meaningful contributions to global geopolitical and geo-economic stability.
“I welcome today’s meeting, especially given the current state of international geopolitics and geo-economics, which is marked by uncertainty. France and Indonesia can provide a valuable contribution to stabilizing both areas. Thank you once again, and welcome to Indonesia—it is a great honor to receive your visit,” Prabowo stated.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Indonesia and France. For over a decade, both countries have nurtured a strategic partnership rooted in mutual respect and shared values, including sovereignty, independence, human rights, and democracy.
