Ankara – President Prabowo Subianto expressed deep admiration for Turkish history, particularly for two of its national heroes—Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and Sultan Mehmed II, also known as Mehmed the Conqueror. His remarks were made during a speech before the Turkish Parliament in Ankara on Thursday (April 10).
“My dear friends, I personally am an admirer of Turkish history. I have studied it, I’ve been inspired by it—by the history of your great nation. My heroes, my icons, are Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and Mehmed the Conqueror,” said Prabowo.
Prabowo even revealed that he has a statue of Atatürk displayed in his office and home in Jakarta.
“If you visit my office in Jakarta, or my home in Jakarta, you’ll find a statue of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk there,” he said.
According to Prabowo, for developing nations, Atatürk represents an icon—an embodiment of courage, leadership, patriotism, and an unyielding spirit.
“Ladies and gentlemen, the world today—especially the current geopolitical landscape—demands the kind of leadership exemplified by Mustafa Kemal: bold, wise, and unwavering,” Prabowo stated.
