Ankara — President Prabowo Subianto firmly voiced Indonesia’s unwavering support for Palestine during a passionate speech before members of the Turkish Parliament on Thursday (April 10) in Ankara.
“Honourable members of this esteemed assembly, we are witnessing a world filled with uncertainty. Today, we are seeing the oppression of weaker nations by more powerful ones,” said Prabowo.
He praised Turkey’s resolute stance in defending oppressed nations, particularly its steadfast support for the Palestinian people, who continue to suffer amid ongoing conflict with Israel.
“We in Indonesia deeply respect Turkey’s position—its leaders have consistently stood up for the oppressed, especially our brothers and sisters in Palestine,” he stated.
The President also took aim at the hypocrisy of countries that often speak loudly about democracy and human rights, yet remain silent in the face of grave humanitarian violations occurring in Gaza.
“Many countries speak about democracy, speak about human rights, but when children are bombed, when innocent mothers are bombed, when the people of Gaza lose everything—those same countries stay silent. They pretend not to see, and act as if these are not human rights violations,” Prabowo said firmly.
He emphasized that Indonesia stands united with Turkey in advocating for justice in an increasingly uncertain world.
“Turkey has shown a firm and clear stance. That is why we feel strongly about standing together with Turkey in defending truth and justice in a world that is now full of uncertainty,” he concluded.
