Jakarta — President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto received a courtesy visit from General Bryan Patrick Fenton, Commander of the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday (August 4).
The meeting was marked by a warm exchange as both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening defense cooperation between Indonesia and the United States.
“Hello, General. How are you?” Prabowo greeted Fenton with a respectful military salute.
“I’m well, sir. And yourself?” Fenton replied.
“You still look fit,” Prabowo said, placing a hand on the general’s shoulder.
“Of course,” Fenton replied with a smile.
During the meeting, General Fenton presented Prabowo with the USSOCOM Honor Medal, recognizing his exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to advancing U.S.–Indonesia defense relations, particularly in the realm of special operations.
“Through his visionary leadership, President Subianto has strengthened bilateral defense ties and international collaboration, including with the United States, enhancing joint efforts in counterterrorism, strategic cooperation, and regional security,” said General Fenton.
He then placed the USSOCOM Honor Medal around President Prabowo’s neck and presented a ceremonial gift.
“I didn’t have this inscribed on the medal,” Fenton quipped, “but I think it would look great in your office.”
Accompanying President Prabowo during the meeting were Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
