PCO: Peaceful Ramadan with Market Operations and Comfortable Homecoming

Jakarta, 28 February 2025 – The government is committed to providing peace and comfort for the people during Ramadan 1446 Hijri. A number of policies have been implemented, ranging from food market operations, to preparing Lebaran 2025 homecoming activities that are comfortable for the entire community.

‘Ramadan has arrived. Ramadan is calm and pleasant, that is the government’s hope. This means that everything must take place in a safe and comfortable atmosphere,’ Presidential Communications Office Spokesperson Adita Irawati said in a press release on Friday (28/02/2025).

She revealed that President Prabowo Subianto has already delivered a number of stimuli for the people to welcome Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr this year. Food stimulus is already underway, in the form of market operations for a number of foodstuffs in various regions.

The market operations involved a number of related ministries and institutions, such as the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of State-owned Enterprises, National Food Agency (Bapanas), Food Task Force, as well as a number of state-owned enterprises engaged in food and logistics. The market operation took place from 24 February to 28 March 2025 at 215 points in Java and 110 points outside Java, with a target expansion of 4,500 outlets.

‘A number of ministries and institutions are collaborating to carry out market operations to stabilise prices. In fact, such as oil, sugar, and buffalo meat, through market operations are sold at prices lower than the Highest Retail Price (HET),’ Adita added.

Local governments in several regions have also ensured that the availability of a number of food items, such as rice, oil, sugar, frozen meat, and onions, is sufficient until May 2025. ‘It’s just a matter of how we secure the distribution channels, so that there will be no shortages during these important moments of Ramadan and Eid,’ she said.

Then, as is customary approaching Eid, most citizens make homecoming trips. To ensure that homecoming remains calm and enjoyable, the Ministry of Transportation together with related ministries and institutions have checked the readiness of public transportation at various transportation nodes.

In addition, to anticipate potential traffic congestion in all dimensions of transportation, including land, sea, air and railways, a joint decree will be issued between the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Public Works and the Korlantas Polri for traffic arrangements during the homecoming period. A number of transport operators will also provide special ticket prices with certain discounts. Similarly, on toll roads, there will be discounted toll rates applied in certain periods on a number of toll roads.

However, apart from the various preparations and stimuli to facilitate homecoming transport, the government also encourages people to go home earlier, to avoid congestion due to heavy traffic on certain dates before and after Lebaran. For this reason, it is possible to work and study from anywhere with the concept of Flexible Working Arrangement (FWA). ‘For this FWA, the Ministry of PAN-RB is preparing the rules as a reference for the State Civil Apparatus to implement it,’ explained Adita.

‘Not only ASN, employees in private companies are also encouraged to apply their respective internal policies for the implementation of FWA for some employees who are possible,’ explained Adita.
