Jakarta, August 13, 2025 — Addressing Indonesian diaspora from across the globe at the Diaspora Global Summit 2, hosted by the Indonesian Diaspora Network–United (IDN-U) in Jakarta, Hamdan Hamedan, Senior Advisor at the Presidential Communication Office (PCO), outlined how President Prabowo Subianto’s five flagship programs are designed as an integrated policy package—intervening from the crucial First 1,000 Days of Life to helping citizens achieve full economic independence.
The five programs are: Free Nutritious Meals (Makan Bergizi Gratis, MBG), Free Health Checkups (Cek Kesehatan Gratis, CKG), People’s Schools (Sekolah Rakyat), the Merah Putih Village and Urban Cooperative (Koperasi Desa/Kelurahan Merah Putih), and the Three Million Homes program.
Hamdan illustrated this integration through the story of Ani, a young girl from a modest family. While still in the womb, Ani’s mother received Free Nutritious Meals, ensuring proper nutrition and securing the vital First 1,000 Days to prevent stunting. As Ani entered kindergarten and elementary school, she continued to receive daily nutritious meals, maintaining optimal health.
Ani attended a People’s School, a free boarding institution offering not only academic instruction but also healthy meals, regular health checkups, and character education. Her father, long hindered from starting a business, secured financing from the Merah Putih Cooperative—freeing him from predatory lenders. Once the family’s income stabilized, they purchased a decent home through the Three Million Homes program.
“Poverty must not be inherited. Every one of President Prabowo’s programs is pro-people and interconnected, building dignity from birth to self-reliance,” Hamdan told the diaspora audience.
He emphasized that all of these initiatives are already underway and will continue to be strengthened with measurable targets to eradicate extreme poverty as quickly as possible. “We are at a historic moment to eliminate extreme poverty. This is not a dream—this is a promise, already being delivered and will continue to be fulfilled,” he said.
IDN-U President Professor Herry Utomo welcomed the presentation. “Programs like Free Nutritious Meals, People’s Schools, and Free Health Checkups are strategic policies that, in many countries, have proven to foster healthy, educated, and prosperous societies. We, the diaspora, stand ready to support this vision,” he said.
