Jakarta – A group of young people engaged in environmental cleanliness issues, Pandawara Group, said that Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has a firm stance on the issue of waste. They revealed this after meeting Prabowo directly at the State Palace on Tuesday (11/3).
‘We are impressed with his (Prabowo’s) attitude and expectations. Mr Prabowo is firm about waste, he also said that waste has become a national issue, which means we have to solve it massively,’ said Gilang, a representative of Pandawara Group.
Gilang said Prabowo ensured that the waste problem must be resolved not only by one party but requires synergy between individuals, the private sector and the government.
‘Earlier there were several points that we conveyed, the difficulties or problems that we have experienced in the field. We tried to convey it to him and thank God the results were positive. He asked us to continue to be committed and not get tired regarding this movement,’ said Gilang.
Pandawara Group is a group of movers and shakers that focuses on waste and environmental hygiene issues. The group consists of five young people from Bandung, namely Agung Permana, Gilang Rahma, Muhammad Ihsan Kamil, Rafla Pasya, and Rifki Sa’dulah. Pandawara began to gain a lot of public attention after they shared video content of cleaning rubbish from rivers through social media.
So far, Pandawara has cleaned up more than 80 spots in Java and Lampung.
Previously, Prabowo visited flood-affected communities in Babelan, Bekasi Regency, West Java, on Saturday (8/3) to check the condition of the residents and their homes.
On that occasion, Prabowo walked through the flooded neighbourhoods and talked to and absorbed the complaints of flood-affected residents, asking about their conditions and urgent needs. (RR)
