Jakarta — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has garnered significant attention on social media for his administration’s rapid moves to combat corruption. Netizens across platforms have praised Prabowo for the swift crackdown on corrupt officials shortly after his inauguration.

These include the arrest of a former Acting Head of Education in Mandailing Natal on charges related to a 4.7 billion rupiah corruption case, a former Supreme Court official suspected of case brokering, and, most recently, revelations from the Attorney General’s Office about a sugar import corruption case that implicated former Trade Minister Tom Lembong, resulting in an estimated state loss of 400 billion rupiah.

In several appearances following his inauguration, Prabowo has repeatedly emphasized his commitment to fighting corruption. He reiterated his stance that “a fish rots from the head” during a speech at the Indonesian Military Academy in Magelang on October 25-27—a line he first used in his inaugural speech on October 20.
