Moscow – Indonesian Defense Minister and President-elect Prabowo Subianto met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Wednesday (31/7/2024).
During the meeting, Prabowo reiterated Russia’s significant contributions to Indonesia’s development. He emphasized that Indonesia has always considered Russia a good friend due to its support for various development projects in the country.
“You know we consider Russia a good friend, and I want to continue to preserve and acknowledge this relationship in our history. Remember that Russia has always helped us, and if you visit Jakarta now, you will see many major infrastructures built by Russia,” Prabowo said.
These developments include the parliament building (DPR), which serves as the venue for the national congress, the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) national stadium, the National Monument (Monas), and several bridges across Indonesia.
“All of these were built at that time, and you also helped us. The lessons from our elders teach us that those who help should not be forgotten,” Prabowo added.
Since the post-independence era, Russia has consistently supported Indonesia. This support includes not only constructing buildings but also providing funds and technicians involved in various road construction projects in Indonesia, such as roads in Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan; and the Kalimantan road project (projakal) in East Kalimantan.
