Solo — President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, announced that the government’s flagship Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program has attracted international attention and is now being discussed in global diplomatic forums.
Delivering his remarks at the closing ceremony of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) Congress in Solo, Central Java, on Sunday evening (July 20), Prabowo emphasized that the program—which targets schoolchildren, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers—has not only been running successfully but is also drawing interest from other countries.
“Everywhere I go abroad, people are asking about our programs. The Free Nutritious Meals program is being discussed internationally,” Prabowo stated.
He confirmed that as of July 2025, the MBG program has reached over six million beneficiaries, consisting primarily of children and pregnant women.
“There has never been a program like this before. As of this July, we’ve reached more than six million children and pregnant mothers,” he said.
Prabowo expressed confidence that the number of beneficiaries will continue to grow rapidly in the near term. The government’s target is to reach 20 million beneficiaries by the end of August 2025, with the potential to exceed that figure.
“God willing, by the end of August, we’ll reach over 20 million. Our goal, if all goes well, could even surpass 25 million beneficiaries,” he added.
The MBG program is a cornerstone of the government’s commitment to combating malnutrition and building a strong, healthy next generation. It also serves as an economic stimulus for local food producers and vendors. In addition, the initiative is designed to support social equity and early human development, playing a critical role in long-term nation-building.
