On 25 April 2021, Chief of State Intelligence Agency (KABINDA) of Papua, Brigadier General TNI I Gusti Putu Danny Nugraha, an AKABRI graduate of the graduation year 1993, passed away in a shooting with an Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Beoga District, Puncak Regency, Papua. It is said that four soldiers accompanied him.
The good ethos of army leadership is leading from the front. A commander’s order should be ‘follow me’ instead of ‘you, go forward’.
On 25 April 2021, Chief of State Intelligence Agency (KABINDA) of Papua, Brigadier General TNI I Gusti Putu Danny Nugraha, an AKABRI graduate of the graduation year 1993, was shot and killed by an Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Beoga District, Puncak Regency, Papua. It is said that he was with four other soldiers at that time.
I knew Putu Danny as I was the one who recruited him to enter KOPASSUS when I was the PUSDIKPASSUS Commander in Batujajar in 1994. Ever since I noticed that he always displayed exceptional courage on the field, he was always at the forefront.
The death of Putu Danny was certainly heartbreaking. It was such a profound, inconceivable loss to his family and the TNI. But that was one of the risks of being an officer, especially combat force officers and commando troops officers. They always face the risk of death in action. However, inevitably, a military leader must dare to bear the risk, must be willing to experience the same risks as his soldiers.
