Jakarta — President of the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI), Said Iqbal, has voiced strong support for President Prabowo Subianto’s decision to form a National Layoff Task Force (Satgas PHK).
Speaking during the 2025 International Labor Day commemoration held at the National Monument (Monas) in Central Jakarta on Thursday (May 1), Said stated that the task force aligns with workers’ demands and called for collective support of the initiative.
“We respectfully ask everyone to support the Layoff Task Force, because its purpose is to save the economy. The economy must move forward together—not just in America, but here in Indonesia as well,” Said emphasized.
On this year’s May Day, President Prabowo unveiled two key policies aimed at enhancing worker protection and welfare: the formation of the National Workers’ Welfare Council and the National Layoff Task Force.
Prabowo reaffirmed that these initiatives reflect his administration’s commitment to listening to and directly involving the voices of workers in national policy-making.
“At the suggestion of labor leaders—Pak Said Iqbal and Pak Jumhur—we will soon form the Layoff Task Force. We will not allow our people, our workers, to be laid off arbitrarily. If necessary, the state will step in without hesitation,” Prabowo declared in his speech.
