Jakarta – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) expressed that President-elect Prabowo Subianto holds a special place in his regard, emphasizing the deep respect he has for Prabowo.

“I just want to say that, for me, Prabowo Subianto is very special. I have great respect for Mr. Prabowo, I respect him deeply,” Jokowi said during the closing of the Gerindra Party’s National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas) at Indonesia Arena, Senayan, Jakarta, on Saturday, August 31.

Jokowi also revealed that he shares a strong connection with Prabowo, a bond that he believes has developed from mutual trust over the years.

“In several instances, Mr. Prabowo has mentioned that he feels very connected and fond of me. I feel the same way,” Jokowi explained.

“This sense of connection has grown from mutual trust, respect, and understanding, even though there are sometimes differences,” he continued.

During the event, Jokowi also expressed his happiness to be among Gerindra members, stating that they should feel fortunate to have a leader like Prabowo. He described Prabowo as a trustworthy, visionary, and honest leader.

“All of you are very fortunate to be led by General (Ret.) Prabowo Subianto. Extremely fortunate to be led by someone who is visionary; a patriot; consistent; relentless; and who speaks frankly,” he said.

With these qualities, Jokowi conveyed his belief that under Prabowo’s leadership, Indonesia is on the path to achieving its 2045 Vision—often referred to as Indonesia Emas (Golden Indonesia).

“Believe me, with the leadership of Mr. Prabowo Subianto, Indonesia, with its continuity, will be able to achieve its goals for 2045. I am very confident of this, God willing,” Jokowi concluded. (RR)
