Jakarta – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) warmly acknowledged Prabowo Subianto, Chairman of the Gerindra Party, while attending the closing of the National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas) held at Indonesia Arena, Senayan, Jakarta, on Saturday, August 31.

Jokowi shared that he felt happy and excited to be present for the first time among the members of the Gerindra Party.

“Tonight, I feel very happy and excited—this is the first time I have attended an event like this in the midst of the entire Gerindra family,” Jokowi said in his speech.

Jokowi did not shy away from acknowledging the rapid rise of the Gerindra Party under Prabowo Subianto’s leadership. He noted that the party has established strong grassroots support. Jokowi expressed his optimism that Prabowo, as the president-elect, will be able to lead Indonesia towards a “golden generation.”

Jokowi also remarked that Gerindra members are fortunate to have Prabowo as their leader. He praised Prabowo as a visionary, a patriot, and a straightforward individual.

“All of you are very fortunate to be led by Prabowo Subianto, extremely fortunate to be led by someone who is visionary, patriotic, and consistent—someone who never gives up and speaks the truth, whether it is good or bad,” Jokowi emphasized.

Jokowi also extended his congratulations to Prabowo for being elected as the 8th President of Indonesia.

Following his speech, Gerindra Party members chanted Jokowi’s name and shouted “thank you, Mr. Jokowi.” Hearing the chants, Jokowi smiled and placed his hands together in appreciation. (RR)
