IKN — Defense Minister and President-elect Prabowo Subianto accompanied President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in delivering guidance to top TNI-Polri officials at the Presidential Palace in Indonesia’s future capital, Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan, on Thursday, September 12.
During the session, Prabowo attentively listened and took detailed notes on Jokowi’s directives. Prabowo, seen holding a pen and a small notebook, jotted down key points made by the president, highlighting the close collaboration between the two leaders.
In addition to the guidance session, Prabowo and Jokowi, along with senior TNI-Polri officials, reviewed the progress of the IKN project at the Sumbu Kebangsaan location, further demonstrating their strong rapport.
President Jokowi’s directives were aimed at improving governance and bureaucratic management within the TNI-Polri, with an emphasis on professionalism. He also urged TNI-Polri to take bold actions, both small and large, that positively impact Indonesia’s growth.
“Our nation requires stability to continue its growth. I ask TNI and Polri to ensure stability and fully support the government’s transition,” Jokowi emphasized.
TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto expressed gratitude for Jokowi’s guidance, saying it would help TNI become more advanced, modern, and professional.
“Thank you, Mr. President, for your presence and for providing valuable guidance to TNI and Polri here at IKN, which will make us more advanced, modern, and professional,” General Agus said.
Meanwhile, National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo reaffirmed the police’s commitment to implementing the president’s instructions, particularly in addressing strategic environmental developments that could affect national progress. He emphasized the importance of continuous reform within the police force to ensure national security and sovereignty.
“We are committed to improving our mindset, work methods, and culture, while enhancing the quality, capacity, and professionalism of our duties to maintain national sovereignty and internal security,” Chief Listyo concluded. (RR)
