Washington, D.C. — President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto arrived in Washington, D.C. for his official visit to the United States on Sunday evening, November 10, and was warmly welcomed by hundreds of Indonesian citizens residing in the U.S.
Diana, one of the Indonesian expatriates, was among those who gathered at the hotel where Prabowo was staying, specifically to catch a glimpse of him. She became emotional upon finally meeting Prabowo in person.
“I’ve been waiting years, since 2014, hoping to meet Pak Prabowo. Back then, he visited New York, but I didn’t get the chance to see him. Today, I’m overwhelmed,” Diana expressed, visibly moved.
“I’ve been crying; I just can’t hold back the tears anymore. This is a dream come true. Alhamdulillah, Pak Prabowo is now President. We love you, Pak,” she added.
Another Indonesian, Memes Wisoko, shared similar sentiments, expressing both pride and excitement at Prabowo’s visit.
“It’s truly a joy. His visit makes us proud as citizens, to be greeted here by our President,” Memes remarked.
“We got to shake hands and exchange a few words. Pak Prabowo has such a commanding presence—intelligent, yet warm and approachable,” she added. (RR)
