Washington, D.C. — Indonesian students studying in the United States expressed their excitement as they awaited the arrival of President Prabowo Subianto in Washington, D.C.
Hundreds of Indonesians, including students, gathered to greet Prabowo in Washington, D.C. on Sunday evening, November 10, local time. Among them was Vanesa Angela, who attended with her younger sibling.
“I usually see him in pictures or on television. But this time, I got to meet him in person. It was just like seeing him on TV, but right in front of me,” Vanesa said enthusiastically.
Her younger sibling even received a warm gesture from Prabowo, who asked his name and gave him a friendly greeting.
“Yes, he even kissed my brother on the cheek when they met and asked his name. He’s so kind. Stay healthy, Mr. President. Keep up the spirit; we’re all here supporting you,” Vanesa added.
Zudika Siahaan, a Ph.D. student in Electrical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University, shared similar sentiments, mentioning that although he and his friends waited for nearly three hours, they remained enthusiastic.
“We’ve been waiting since around 3 p.m., and Pak Prabowo arrived around 5:30, but we didn’t mind the wait. We were excited to see him, and I even got to take some photos with him,” Zudika said.
Muhammad Yusuf Atthariq Azof, a Master’s student in Biotechnology at Johns Hopkins University, echoed the joy of being able to greet Prabowo in person.
“We’re so happy to welcome Pak Prabowo to the United States. Alhamdulillah, he arrived safely and in good health,” said Muhammad Yusuf. (RR)
