New York, July 18, 2025 — Indonesia has reaffirmed its position as a global leader in sustainable development by presenting its fourth Voluntary National Review (VNR) on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the United Nations High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) held from July 14–23, 2025, at UN Headquarters in New York.
With this presentation, Indonesia becomes one of only four countries worldwide to have submitted four VNRs—underscoring its consistency, transparency, and leadership in pursuing the 2030 Agenda.
The Indonesian delegation was led by Minister of National Development Planning (Bappenas), Rachmat Pambudy, who emphasized that the 2025 VNR is more than a technical report.
“The 2025 VNR is Indonesia’s strategic declaration on the global stage. We want to show that sustainable development is not just a slogan—it is a real, actionable commitment embedded in our policies and practices,” said Rachmat.
In its presentation, Indonesia not only shared national progress but also highlighted best practices and policy innovations—including the integration of the National Socio-Economic Single Data System (DTSEN), the establishment of 61 SDG Centers at universities, and performance audits on SDG implementation conducted by the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK).
Indonesia has made measurable progress, achieving 61.4 percent of its national SDG indicators—demonstrating that a large, biodiverse country can serve as a global model for inclusive and sustainable development.
The country’s commitment is grounded in the principle of “No One Left Behind,” strengthened by cross-sector collaboration and innovative financing mechanisms such as blended finance and SDG bonds. Indonesia also reaffirmed its solidarity through development cooperation with fellow developing nations.
“Indonesia is not just reporting—we are calling on the world to unite in shaping our shared future. The next five years will be decisive: will we deliver sustainability, or leave behind even greater challenges for future generations?” Rachmat added.
Indonesia’s participation in HLPF 2025 strengthens its role as a relevant and credible global partner. This VNR is not merely a document—it is a collective call to action, urging accelerated progress toward the 2030 Agenda.
