Indonesia Posts Record Rice and Corn Reserves, Prabowo Credits ‘Commonsense Policies’

Serpong — President Prabowo Subianto declared that Indonesia’s reserves of rice and corn have reached the highest levels in the country’s history, attributing the milestone to what he called practical and people-centered policymaking.

Speaking at the opening of the 49th Annual Indonesian Petroleum Association (IPA) Convention and Exhibition on Wednesday (May 21), attended by energy stakeholders from more than 60 countries, President Prabowo Subianto highlighted recent breakthroughs not only in energy, but also in national food security.

“The national food reserves—rice and corn stored in government warehouses—are now the largest since our nation’s founding,” Prabowo stated. “This is based on the latest official reports. Never before in the history of the Republic of Indonesia have we had food reserves this large.”

Prabowo credited the rapid progress to what he described as “commonsense” policies that focus directly on solving problems and serve the interests of the people.

“I’m grateful and proud,” he said. “Thanks to all those who contributed to this achievement. In just a few months since we assumed responsibility for the government—barely six months in—our food production has already exceeded our targets and expectations.”

The surplus, he explained, was so significant that the government faced concerns over insufficient storage space.

“We were even worried that we wouldn’t have enough warehouses to store the output,” he said. “So we ordered the construction of new storage facilities.”

In closing, Prabowo reiterated that success in the agricultural sector did not require complex solutions, but rather rational and results-oriented policymaking.

“What we’ve achieved in food security proves that this isn’t an overly complicated issue,” he said. “What matters is making decisions based on logic and in service of the nation and the people.”
