The Garuda Merah Putih-II Task Force successfully carried out a humanitarian aid mission to the Gaza Strip, Palestine, on Sunday (August 17, 2025), coinciding with the 80th anniversary of Indonesia’s independence.
The mission was a joint effort involving the Ministry of Defense, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the National Alms Agency (Baznas).
Two Indonesian Air Force C-130J Super Hercules aircraft departed from King Abdullah II Air Base in Amman, Jordan, at 10:37 a.m. local time (2:37 p.m. Jakarta time). The planes conducted an airdrop of aid supplies over Gaza before safely returning to the forward operating base at 12:25 p.m. local time (4:25 p.m. Jakarta time).
“The mission went smoothly without significant obstacles,” said Colonel Pilot Puguh Yulianto, Commander of the Garuda Merah Putih-II Task Force, in a statement on Monday (August 18, 2025).
The aid packages included essential supplies for Gaza residents, such as staple foods, ready-to-eat meals, medical equipment, blankets, and items specifically for children.
The mission was carried out under the direct orders of President Prabowo Subianto as part of Indonesia’s enduring commitment to international humanitarian solidarity.
Its success on the nation’s independence anniversary was hailed as a moment of national pride, underscoring Indonesia’s active role on the world stage and its contributions to global peace.
“This achievement marks a historic milestone and a special gift for Indonesia’s Independence Day,” Yulianto said.
