Jakarta — President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, has called on Chinese companies to deepen their contributions to Indonesia’s economy by prioritizing job creation and the transfer of technology.
“I want to express my sincere gratitude to Chinese companies that have actively participated in our economy—creating jobs, facilitating technology transfer, and building trust across the business community, especially here at home,” President Prabowo said during the Business Forum Dinner with Chinese Premier Li Qiang at the Shangri-La Hotel in Jakarta on Saturday (24/5).
Prabowo also praised Chinese business leaders for their strong commitment and openness in understanding Indonesia’s local challenges and national interests.
“I’ve had the opportunity to meet many key figures from the Chinese business sector. I see their commitment. I see their willingness to adapt to Indonesia’s circumstances. They are very open to listening to our challenges and our needs,” he noted.
The President emphasized the importance of advancing environmentally friendly, sustainable investments and reinforcing strategic cooperation in industry and technology.
“This trade and investment relationship reflects our shared commitment to building a stronger, more prosperous future for both our nations—one that is greener and more environmentally responsible,” he said.
Prabowo also acknowledged the success of major bilateral projects already underway, such as the Jakarta–Bandung high-speed rail and nickel downstreaming industrial zones.
“Chinese companies have led highly successful large-scale projects—the Jakarta–Bandung high-speed rail, industrial parks, nickel downstreaming—along with the development of numerous industrial and technological initiatives, some of which I had the opportunity to view at a recent exhibition,” he explained.
In closing, Prabowo expressed confidence that Indonesia and China can serve as a model for how economic power can be harnessed to foster regional stability, harmony, and shared prosperity.
“I firmly believe Indonesia and China can be a beacon—demonstrating how economic strength can be directed toward creating lasting peace and prosperity in our region,” he concluded.
