Bangkok — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra jointly witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on health cooperation between Indonesia and Thailand at the Government House in Bangkok on Monday (May 19).
The MoU, signed by Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono and Thai Health Minister Somsak Thepsuthin, marks a deepening of diplomatic ties between the two countries, which have enjoyed 75 years of bilateral relations.
“We just witnessed the signing of a health sector MoU to strengthen our cooperation and enhance our capacities together,” President Prabowo said during a joint press conference.
Prabowo emphasized that such collaboration is crucial in preparing for the potential emergence of future pandemics.
“This is particularly important in the face of possible new pandemics,” he added.
Beyond the health sector, President Prabowo also outlined several other key areas of strategic cooperation that both nations are set to bolster. These include defense and security, economic partnerships, education, and food security.
