Jakarta – The latest survey results released by the Indonesian Political Indicator revealed that Gen Z or the generation born in 1997-2012 dominated those who were satisfied with President Prabowo Subianto’s performance.
Executive Director of Indikator Politik Indonesia, Burhanuddin Muhtadi, explained that in a survey on the evaluation of 100 days of the performance of the President and the Red and White Cabinet, the Gen Z satisfaction rate reached 81.7 per cent. He said this figure also plays a role in the Prabowo-Gibran victory in the 2024 presidential election.
“Gen Z is one of the demographic bases of Mr Prabowo’s supporters so that Mr Prabowo won with convincing numbers in the last presidential election,” said Mr Burhanuddin, as quoted from Indikator Politik Indonesia’s YouTube channel, Tuesday (28/1).
In the survey, which was conducted from 16-22 January 2025, Burhanuddin explained that the lowest satisfaction was seen in the baby boomers generation or people who lived from 1918-1964. The difference between the satisfaction of gen z and baby boomers is quite thick, namely 8.3%.
“The figure is quite high, 81.7% of gen z are satisfied, while from the baby boomers group, 73.4% are satisfied,” he said.
Nevertheless, Burhanuddin explained that the general public satisfaction with President Prabowo’s 100-day performance was sufficient, at 79.3%. He revealed that there were at least 20 reasons behind the satisfaction of 1,220 respondents from all provinces in the country with Prabowo’s performance.
As many as 18.9% of people considered the president to be a firm, authoritative, brave and wise figure. As many as 17.4% of people consider that the fight against corruption is going well under Prabowo’s leadership.
Furthermore, 12.8% of citizens see Prabowo as having good and proven performance. Then, 9.2% of the public liked Prabowo because many of his work programmes had begun to be realised.
“Some say that they often provide assistance (5.9%), free nutritious food programmes (5.7%) bring change (3.5%), these are various reasons,” Burhanuddin explained. (RR)
