St. Petersburg — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to upholding the sovereignty of all nations and prioritizing peaceful collaboration in global affairs. His statement followed a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg on Thursday (June 20, 2025).
“In international affairs, as President Putin mentioned earlier, Indonesia and Russia share many common views,” Prabowo noted, highlighting the alignment between Jakarta and Moscow on a range of global issues.
Prabowo emphasized that Indonesia consistently favors diplomacy and cooperation over confrontation.
“We respect the sovereignty of every nation. We seek to resolve all disputes peacefully, and we always prioritize collaboration over conflict,” he asserted.
The President expressed gratitude for Russia’s warm hospitality and praised the growing ties between the two countries, particularly in trade and other strategic sectors.
He also welcomed the series of strategic agreements forged during the state visit, which he described as a meaningful step forward in bilateral relations.
“I hope this visit will mark a significant advancement in the relationship between our two countries,” Prabowo said.
He concluded his remarks by expressing appreciation for the invitation to attend the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, where he is scheduled to appear alongside President Putin.
