Magelang — President Prabowo Subianto led the Twilight Parade ceremony attended by the entire Merah Putih Cabinet at Pancasila Field, Graha Utama Military Academy, Magelang, Central Java, on Friday evening (Oct. 25).
The ceremony, beginning at 5:30 PM WIB, was led by the Inspector of Ceremony, with President Prabowo conducting a troop inspection comprising cadets from Indonesia’s three military branches — the Army (TNI AD), Air Force (TNI AU), Navy (TNI AL) — as well as the National Police (Polri).
Despite heavy rain as the parade commenced, Prabowo proceeded onto the field to inspect the troops, accompanied by Defense Minister Sjafrie Samsoeddin, Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces Agus Subiyanto, and Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
“We are proud of each of you,” Prabowo said. “I saw you standing in the rain, so I invited the generals to join and get soaked as well. Because in our leadership principle, ing ngarso sung tulodo — if the soldiers are wet, the leaders must also be wet.”
Prabowo, alongside the Defense Minister, the TNI Commander, and the Police Chief, toured the troops in a Maung 1 vehicle, followed by three other Maung vehicles carrying Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka and other ministers. The procession was accompanied by the national song “Halo-Halo Bandung.”
Following the inspection, a moment of silence was observed, led by the Inspector of Ceremony.
“Let us remember the sacrifices of our heroes for the sovereignty and honor of Indonesia. Moment of silence, begin!” Prabowo commanded.
The event continued with a defile performance and the Canka Lokananta Academy’s Fife and Drum Corps. The ceremony concluded at 6:35 PM WIB. (RR)
