President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, hosted the Indonesian national football team at his private residence on Jalan Kertanegara, South Jakarta, on Friday (June 6). The gathering was held in celebration of the team’s hard-fought 1–0 victory over China in Matchday 9 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifiers Group C.
During the event, the players broke into song, performing the popular “Gemu Fa Mi Re” from East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). In a moment filled with warmth and camaraderie, the players formed lines, placed their hands on each other’s shoulders, and joyfully marched around the lunch reception area in a traditional “Ular Naga” (dragon snake) dance.
Wearing his signature white shirt, President Prabowo joined in the celebration, smiling widely and waving his hands in rhythm with the song. His cheerful expression reflected the joy shared by the entire team and all in attendance.
The festive afternoon at Kertanegara served as both a gesture of appreciation and a morale boost for the Garuda Squad, who are now preparing for their next big challenge.
Indonesia will face Japan in their final match of the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers on Tuesday, June 10. The match is expected to be a defining moment in Indonesia’s historic campaign to reach the World Cup.
