Central Papua – One of the priority programmes of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s administration, namely Free Nutritious Meals (MBG), has reached children in Homeyo District, Intan Jaya, Central Papua.
Children in the district enthusiastically welcomed the programme. They gave their family’s crops such as vegetables, corn, sweet potatoes to be processed in the public kitchen and cooked by the TNI as raw materials.
This was illustrated in a video shared by Kogabwilhan III as the implementer of this programme in Homeyo District.
‘Hey kiddo, what are the vegetables for?’ said TNI personnel cooking in the public kitchen to two children who each brought beans and cabbage.
‘Make this,’ said one of the children, pointing to the cooking pot.
‘Yes, come here. Thank you,’ said the TNI personnel.
The district’s Free Nutritious Meal menu consists of rice, fish or meat, vegetables, fruit, and milk.
The parents of the students expressed their gratitude to Prabowo for the complete menu and hoped that the programme would be sustainable.
‘That’s nice, sir. Eating healthy. Yes, children can eat well too. Free [nutritious] meals are healthy and delicious,’ said Bagus Bagubau, a family head in the district.
Meanwhile, the Free Nutritious Meal Programme in this district was followed by the resumption of teaching and learning activities in schools after the OPM previously brought terror and burned down children’s schools. (RR)
