Jakarta – President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, urged the ministers of his “Merah Putih” Cabinet to improve the cumbersome, slow, and often burdensome bureaucratic system that frustrates the public.
“Let us honestly admit that our bureaucracy is notoriously known for being complicated and slow,” Prabowo stated during his first cabinet meeting at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Wednesday (23/10).
“There’s even talk among our people that our government bureaucracy tends to make things harder rather than easier for citizens. Some even say, ‘If it can be made difficult, why make it easy?'” he added.
Prabowo encouraged the ministers not to hesitate in reforming their respective ministries. “I ask the ministers now to be bold and unafraid to provide the best service to our people.”
In addition, Prabowo stressed that all human resources within each ministry must be aligned with the same mission: serving the people.
“If you’re dissatisfied with officials under your leadership, report them, and we’ll replace them. There are plenty of people eager to serve,” he asserted.
“No one here is untouchable. Those who are not compliant, or do not work hard for the nation, the country, and the people—I give you the authority to remove them and send them home rather than let them be a burden to us,” Prabowo declared firmly. (RR)
