Fighting Corruption, Prabowo Subianto Launches E-Catalog 6.0: Saves 30% on Procurement Costs

Jakarta – President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, officially launched E-Catalog Version 6.0 as an effort to fight corruption and enhance budget transparency and efficiency. The launch was held at the State Palace on Tuesday (10/12).

“This Version 6.0 catalog is expected to reduce procurement costs by 20–30% and administrative costs by 40–50%,” said Prabowo.

Furthermore, Prabowo stated that the use of E-Catalog Version 6.0 will begin on January 1, 2025.

“Let us achieve clean governance through strong leadership and the use of technology. Ultimately, we must be bold in upholding the law,” said Prabowo.

This was also echoed by the Chairman of the National Economic Council (DEN), Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan. Through the development of E-Catalog Version 6.0, accountability and transparency in government goods and services procurement will be improved, as all transaction processes—starting from contract orders, payments, to goods delivery—will be integrated into one platform.

“In addition, with E-Catalog Version 6.0, parties will also find it easier to process payments and report taxes on the purchase of goods and services,” said Luhut.

Luhut outlined at least five positive impacts that can be achieved through the implementation of E-Catalog Version 6.0.

First, cost savings through a reduction of 20–30% in procurement expenses. Second, time efficiency, as processes that previously took months can now be expedited to just a few weeks thanks to automation and digital system implementation.

Third, transparency and accountability, as systems like E-Catalog ensure competitive and transparent pricing while minimizing human intervention in the procurement process.

“This will also minimize corrupt practices. Fourth, increased supplier participation, as the online system makes it easier for goods and services providers to participate without being hindered by location or complex bureaucracy,” explained Luhut.

As an example, Luhut stated that the implementation of Indonesia’s E-Catalog has successfully attracted more than 13,000 suppliers. This opens up significant opportunities for SMEs to contribute to national development.

“Fifth, budget optimization, where the use of data analysis in digital systems allows the government to design strategic spending and ensure that every rupiah spent provides maximum benefits for the public,” Luhut concluded. (RR)
