Washington, D.C. — Amidst his official visit to the United States, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto took a moment to visit Second Story Books in Washington, D.C., on Monday morning, November 11.
The moment was shared on Instagram by Prabowo’s personal secretary, Rizky Irmansyah, via his account @rizky_irmansyah.
In the photo posted by Rizky, Prabowo is seen browsing for books to purchase—a pastime he often indulges in both abroad and at home. Rizky is pictured holding a red basket containing two books that Prabowo selected.
“This is one of Pak Prabowo’s regular activities—wherever he goes, domestically or internationally, he makes it a point to visit a bookstore,” Rizky explained to reporters in Washington, D.C.
In the image, Prabowo is shown scanning through the U.S. history section, with a book in hand.
This is not the first time Prabowo has made headlines for his love of books. In 2022, he was spotted browsing books during the G20 Summit in Bali. Earlier this year, in July 2024, while still serving as Minister of Defense, Prabowo also visited a bookstore in France during a diplomatic trip that included a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace.
