Jakarta – Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, Budi Gunawan, conveyed President Prabowo Subianto’s directive for law enforcement agencies to act decisively and without hesitation in eradicating corruption. The statement was made during the commemoration of International Anti-Corruption Day (Hakordia) at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) headquarters in Jakarta on Monday (December 9).
Budi emphasized that Prabowo has consistently urged law enforcement officers to maintain a firm stance against corruption, online gambling, smuggling, and drug trafficking.
“On numerous occasions, President Prabowo Subianto has instructed all law enforcement agencies to act decisively and without hesitation in combating corruption, online gambling, smuggling, and drug trafficking,” Budi stated at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building.
To follow up on Prabowo’s directive, the Ministry of Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, in collaboration with the Attorney General’s Office, the National Police, and other government agencies, established the Task Force for Corruption Prevention and Eradication and Governance Improvement on November 4, 2024.
Budi highlighted that the government continues to enhance public services through digital transformation and is pushing forward with bureaucratic reforms using e-government as a tool to increase transparency, efficiency, and accountability.
“Digital transformation in governance is key to preventing and eradicating corruption by promoting transparency, efficiency, and accountability in public services,” Budi explained.
The government has also implemented e-budgeting for state budget (APBN) and regional budget (APBD) management to oversee fund usage and minimize opportunities for manipulation.
In addition, e-procurement has become a cornerstone of electronic goods and services procurement. This approach aims to reduce direct human interactions that often lead to collusion and corruption while ensuring a fair and transparent tender process.
“Online public service systems, such as electronic identity card (e-KTP) issuance and tax payments, will continue to be developed to allow citizens to access services without direct interaction with officers, thereby minimizing illegal fees,” Budi concluded. (RR)
