Jakarta — President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed that Indonesia’s support for the Palestinian cause is an unwavering, lifelong commitment.
Speaking at the opening of the 19th Session of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) in Jakarta on Wednesday evening (May 14), Prabowo delivered a strong message underscoring Indonesia’s enduring stance.
“I reaffirm that Indonesia’s commitment to the rights of the Palestinian people—to live free and independent—will never waver and will never cease,” said Prabowo.
He expressed deep concern over the prolonged suffering endured by the Palestinian people, stating that the Islamic world must move beyond rhetoric and declarations.
“I repeat again at this forum: the time has come for us to go beyond mere discussion. Enough with the endless resolutions. The Palestinian people have been victims for far too long. What they need now is real, concrete action,” he stressed.
Prabowo urged Muslim nations to put aside their divisions, overcome mutual suspicion, and end internal rivalries for the greater good of the ummah.
“Let us rise above our differences. Let us overcome our distrust. Let us end our rivalries. What truly matters is the well-being of the Muslim world,” he asserted.
He emphasized that forums such as PUIC must serve as effective platforms to strengthen solidarity, advocate for justice, and deliver tangible solutions for Muslims around the world.
“This assembly was born from the shared awareness that Muslim nations must unite to face global challenges and defend the rights and interests of Muslims everywhere,” he stated.
Prabowo also reminded participants that Indonesia’s Constitution explicitly mandates the nation to contribute to global peace, freedom, and social justice.
“The solution to global problems begins with our own strength as a nation. How can we help others if we are weak? Our voice will only be heard if we are united and strong,” he concluded.
